MY APPROACH

I don’t chase perfection. I chase the in-betweens; the fleeting glances, crooked smiles, and unscripted chaos that happen when no one’s watching.

My photography leans into the raw and real where light meets truth and emotions run deep. I move with you, not ahead of you, letting your story unfold naturally.

Whether it’s a wedding, maternity shoot, or family session, I capture the kind of truth that lingers long after the frame fades. It’s less about making a picture perfect, and more about the pulse behind it.

I’m not here for the over-saturated or the over-posed. I’m drawn to what’s unpolished—the kind of memory that feels like a heartbeat when you look back.

My journalistic style isn’t about staging life, but honoring it as it is. From the moment we meet, it’s never just a transaction. I come to where you feel most at ease; your home, your rhythm, your quiet. I want to know what makes you laugh, what holds you together, what gets your heart racing, what silly jokes you both laugh at. The quirks. The scars. The wild, wonderful truth of who you are.

From a proposal that almost didn't happen at Jewel's rooftop maze, to a wedding day surrounded by a whole lot of love, laughter and some wonderfully enthusiastic people. Karim & Amanda have certainly given me plenty of stories to tell.

Having photographed their pre-wedding, it was especially lovely to be back with these two for the next chapter. I already knew how comfortable they were being their slightly goofy, completely unfiltered selves around each other. What I hadn't experienced yet was what happens when you put them in a room filled with their favourite people.

Turns out, it's quite the party.

There were heartfelt moments, enormous cheers, little ones stealing the spotlight, and so many wonderful interactions happening beyond the couple themselves. The kind of wedding where you'd find yourself smiling at something happening in the corner while everyone else was looking somewhere entirely different.

And that's exactly why I love photographing weddings the way I do.

These photographs are just the beginning. I'll be sharing more from Karim & Amanda's wedding over the coming weeks, because there are far too many lovely, funny and beautifully unscripted moments to squeeze into a single post.

One of the most meaningful shoots I’ve done to date.

And looking at these photographs, you might not immediately understand why.

It was just an afternoon outdoors. Water everywhere. Bubbles. Running around. Getting soaked. Mum and Dad joining in. And Cephas laughing his absolute head off through most of it.

But spend a little time with him and his joy becomes impossible not to feel.

Cephas lives with Angelman syndrome, but I never wanted these photographs to be about a diagnosis. I wanted them to be about him.

The boy who laughs with his entire body. Who finds pure, uninhibited happiness in water spraying everywhere, bubbles floating past his face and playing with plastic bags, his favorite thing in his world. And a boy who doesn't need very much at all for a moment to become the best moment ever.

There was nothing to pose here. Nothing to manufacture.

I just followed him.

And perhaps that's why these photographs mean so much to me. Because somewhere between the running, splashing and laughter, Cephas reminded me how ridiculously complicated we make happiness as adults.

We look for it in achievements. In bigger and shinier things. In what's coming next.

But Cephas finds it right here.

In water.
In bubbles.
In stickers.
In plastic bags.
In play.
In the people he loves.

Photography has allowed me into so many people's lives, but, every now and then, someone stays with you long after you've put the camera down.

Cephas is one of them.

Maybe growing up isn't always about learning more.

Maybe sometimes, it's about remembering what we've forgotten.

To laugh without caring who's watching. To find wonder in something small. To be completely present when something makes us happy. And to just be grateful.

Maybe, just maybe, we could all be a little more like Cephas. ❤️

Carina thought she was turning up for a couple photoshoot.

Well, technically, that was true.

What she didn’t know was that Yiqian had been quietly plotting something much bigger behind the scenes. Friends had been recruited. The studio had been transformed. A ring was waiting. And somehow, an entire room full of people had managed to keep the secret.

Then came the question.

And so we end where Hans & Oli’s story really began: with two people simply enjoying being beside each other.

We walked through familiar places, chased light, stepped barefoot into water, disappeared into glowing rooms, laughed far too loudly and, somewhere along the way, almost forgot this was supposed to be a pre-wedding shoot.

And maybe that was the whole point.

Because Hans & Oli were never about grand gestures or perfectly orchestrated moments. Their story has always lived in long walks, ridiculous laughter, lingering conversations and that quiet ease of knowing there’s someone beside you who just gets you.

So perhaps the best photographs were never going to come from asking them to pose. They were always going to happen in between, when nothing particularly important seemed to be happening.

A glance. A hand reaching across. A stupid joke. Sitting opposite each other and talking like there wasn’t a camera watching.

The ordinary stuff.

The good stuff.

The "vibey" stuff.

The stuff you eventually realise was never ordinary at all.

It was never about the destination. It was always about who you were walking there with. 🤍

A whole year of little moments, quietly becoming memories.

Twelve months ago, the world was something Asher could only look at from the safety of someone else’s arms.

Now, there are shoes to put on.
Places to explore.
Things to climb.
Reasons to laugh.
And two little feet increasingly determined to take him wherever curiosity leads.

That’s the funny thing about watching a child grow.

You spend so much of the beginning holding them.

You carry them when they can’t walk. You lift them high into the air just to hear that laugh. You put on their tiny shoes, hold their hands, pick them up when they fall and become the safe place they instinctively return to when the world feels a little too big.

And then, almost without you noticing, they start letting go.

First a few uncertain steps.

Then across the room.

Then across the playground.

And one day, much further than you ever imagined.

I think that’s why these ordinary photographs matter so much.

Because there will come a time when nobody needs to put those tiny shoes on for him anymore. When Dad won’t be sitting a few metres away watching his every step. When curling up beside Mum isn’t simply where he naturally ends up.

But today, it is.

Today he is one.

Today his world is still small enough to fit inside a home, a playground, a favourite toy, a pair of little shoes and the arms of the people who love him most.

So go explore, Asher.

Get your shoes dirty. Wander a little further. Fall down sometimes. Get back up. Find things you love. Find out who you are.

And no matter how far those little feet eventually take you, may you always know exactly where home is. ❤️

I used to think photographs were about capturing photographs.

First steps. The big milestones.

But the older I get, the more I realised they're usually about everything in between.

The stuffed animals that somehow always ended up in the same corner. The fridge slowly filling up with ultrasound photos, magnets, shopping lists and tiny reminders of a life that was still unfolding.

The dining table that was never really clean because someone was always halfway through a meal, a bottle, a snack, or simply existing.

The toy trolley pushed through hallways with the kind of determination only a two-year-old could have.

The hugs that lasted just a little longer because home was still the safest place they knew.

None of these feel important while you're living them.

Until one day, you move.

Or the toys disappear.

Or the fridge gets cleared.

Or your children stop asking you to carry them.

And suddenly you realise it was never the milestones you were afraid of forgetting. It was the ordinary Tuesdays.

The everyday mess. The version of your family that existed so briefly, you didn't even know it was passing.

Maybe that's why I photograph families the way I do. Not to remember what happened.

But to remember what life felt like before anyone realised it was changing.
